Referat fra møde på DTU, 25. april 2006

Thanks very much for the participation in Aluminium meeting at DTU on 25th April and for your input. It was an interesting meeting and we hope for continued interaction with industries to pursue more work on Aluminium.

Following are the important points from the meeting:

Jim Hansen, Aluminium DK presented an overview of the European Aluminium Technology Platform 2030 and its relevance our plan on aluminium initiative in Denmark. EATP platform focus on major Aluminium issues such as Recycling, Joining, and Surface modification, which is also reflected in the aluminium research and technology initiative from DTU. Aluminium Danmark is working towards bringing all aluminium people in Denmark under one umbrella with close networking.

Leif Guldborg from Alucluster presented the progress on Technology centre initiative. He informed that the ministry showed significant interest in the new R&D inititaive we started on Nanoscale surface modification of aluminium.

Rajan has given an over view of the Aluminium competance at DTU including the aluminium R&D work presently pursued and a frame work for Aluminium initiative aiming at Danish Industries.

Per Møller has presented the scope for combining surface engineering with Aluminium for more value added solutions.

There was strong participation to the meeting from Industry side. Participants have experessed their opinion on their interest on aluminium and their vision for the future. Some of the participants will inform Rajan their interest in due course. Further actions will then be initiated covering these interests.

Therefore, I would request all of you to forward me the filled questionaire (if you haven't given me already).

I will formulate a Draft proposal/paper encompassing the overall interest and what we at DTU could do for aluminium technology for the future, which will then be forwarded soon to you for your opinion. You can find the research areas that could be of interest for your business. Then we can develop on it further into a Research and Technology proposal.

Also if you need any service from DTU, please don't hesitate to contact me or Per. You will hear from me soon again.

With Regards
Rajan
