Properties at elevated temperatures (Topic: 10053)
The different extrusion alloys are all, more or less, sensitive to high temperatures. There are mainly three ways in which the effect appears. Namely as strength
at elevated temperatures, as strength at room temperature after different periods of time at elevated
temperatures and as creep.
The sensitivity of the alloys to elevated temperatures is in turn related to
the type of exposure (time and temperature), the temper and the chemical
composition of the extrusion.
