A00037.gifStray current corrosion (Topic 11031)

Aluminium in soil or water may experience corrosion attacks because of stray current. Tubes buried in soil close to direct current sources and boats connected to electricity onshore are examples where this kind of attack may occur. Strong and localized attacks will be the consequence of this kind of corrosion. Careful insulation will limit stray current corrosion.
