A00132.gifVertical anodising (Topic: 14122)

In vertical anodising the extrusions are jigged on a horizontal table and are then raised to a vertical position for transfer through the line. The profiles are held at one end only, from clamps that never enter the solution, and the profiles hang from these clamps during processing. The equipment for vertical anodising lines is more complicated than that for a conventional line, and much higher and more expensive buildings are required. However such lines have enormous production capacity. The process sequence in vertical anodising lines is similar to that in horizontal lines, and all the normal processes can be carried out vertically. Vertical anodising is very common in Japan, but in Europe and North America the profiles are essentially jigged horizontally.
