Different powder coating resins (Topic: 14025)

There are two main groups of powder coatings:

1. Thermoplastic powder coatings

2. Thermosetting powder coatings

Thermoplastic powder coatings give surfaces almost similar to the most common plastic materials, while thermosetting powder coatings give surfaces which are similar to the hardest plastic materials and solvent based lacquers. Due to the softer surface finish of the thermoplastic powder coatings, this type of coating is not recommended for use for powder coating of aluminium profiles. The most common resin types of thermosetting powder coatings are based on:

1. Polyester

2. Epoxy

3. Epoxy-polyester
