Typical failures visible after anodising - or earlier in the process- are as
follows:
- spangling
- fingerprint corrosion
- spalling
- black spotting
- white spots
- fretting corrosion
- transverse welds
- contamination with other alloys
- die design streaks
- acid or alkali corrosion
- water staining
- etch staining
- sealing bloom
These failures and how to avoid them, will be described below.
