Reaming (Topic: 16140)

Standard reamers are applicable to the reaming of aluminium, as well as other materials. Most suitable are, however, tools with large, highly polished flutes. Spiral flutes are less prone to chatter and provide a better finish than straight flutes. A hand-fed reamer should have negative spiral to avoid the tool feeding itself into the hole. All reaming operations in aluminium should utilize a cutting fluid.
