Thread rolling (Topic: 16195)

Thread rolling is a plastic forming operation. This method is much faster than tapping and threading. Rolled threads are stronger and more fatigue resistant than cut threads. They are also less liable to be affected by abrasion and binding in service. The equipment and techniques for thread rolling aluminium are the same as those used for steel and brass.
