Punch riveting (Topic: 17204)

For the punch riveting process a pipe shaped steel rivet with plane solid head is used. With a high force from a pneumatic gun the rivet is pressed into the two layers of the materials. The method is used within car manufacturing and it allows joints consisting of mixed materials i.e. aluminium profiles to aluminium sheet or aluminium to steel. Self punching rivets make their own holes and join the parts in one moment.
